What is RSS and what's a blog?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for syndicating news and other regularly changing content. A RSS feed can have regular web pages, images, audio files and even videos. Blog is actually a term for "Web Log". It was originally designed to be sort of an online diary. But it started gaining in popularity for other uses when people found out how effective it is at boosting search engine rankings on their websites. Blogs have since remained a hot item and extremely useful for breaking news, press releases and other content that site owners want to post in order to make people aware of who they are and what they do.
Regularly posting to blogs and RSS feeds is a great way to help boost your search engine rankings--where your site appears on search engine result pages (SERPs). Search engines can easily spider and index blogs and RSS feeds, which means they'll gather more links to pages on your website. This will greatly increase the probability that your site appears in search engine results in prominent places--maybe even on the first page near the top. Just be sure to put plenty of links back to your website on your blog and RSS postings.
